Office of the Auditor General

"Supreme Audit Institution of Nepal"

Audit interaction and festival greetings

On October 26, 2080, an Audit interaction program was held with the current and former employees of this office regarding audit management and exchange of greetings for the great festivals of 2080 (Bada Dashain, Tihar, Nepal Sambat, Chhath and other festivals).

Current and former Acting Auditor General, Deputy Auditor Generals, Assistant Auditor Generals, Directors, Audit Officers, Audit superitendents and other staff were present in this program. On the behalf of the office, Mr. Bamdev Sharma Adhikari, Deputy Auditor General, gave a presentation on the practices, techniques, methodology and contemporary issues of the government audit. After than, the former Acting Auditor General Mr. Bachuram Dahal and other former employees explored the views, ideas, support and good wishes regarding the audit. As the former employees in the program said that there is need continuous improvement in the field of audit, they also adviced that to act as according to the strategic plan of the office (2021-2025). In order to improve the quality of audit, it is necessary to study the good practices done by the supreme audit institutions of other countries and improve the operation of the office, the audit techniques and methods accordingly. Due to the lack of uniformity in the reports of the same nature of transactions, there are comments from the responsible bodies and stakeholders on the contents included in the report. So the office should conduct the audit only after doing enough homework and provide training to the audit team. When the accounting system has been integrated into the management information system and the audit should be modified accordingly ie; faceless and remote audits should be conducted. Audit risks should be objectively analyzed and more efforts should be made in high-risk areas and manage the audit field work accordingly.

The former employees of the office appreciated that this kind of program was organized for the first time and thought that it should be continued. Likewise, this type of program will help in enhancing the capabilities of the current employees by sharing the experiences of the seniors, and the quality and impact of the overall audit will also increase.

Finally, therefore, on behalf of the office, the commitment of the continuation of the program and the suggestions given by the former employees will be implemented.
