Interaction with chief Accounting Officers of Government of Nepal

On 28th of Shravan 2080, under the chairmanship of Acting Auditor General Mr. Maheshwar Kaphle, in the presence of the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Dr. Baikunth Aryal, General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Dr. Bharatraj Gautam, Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court Shri Lal Bahadur Kunwar, Secretaries of the Government of Nepal, Comptroller General, Heads of Security Agencies and all chief Accounting Officers of the Government of Nepal, a discussion and interaction program was held at the Auditor General's office regarding the audit policy, plan and schedule for the financial year 2079.80.

In this program, the chief accounting officers/ secretaries explored their views and ideas and given suggestions regarding to the Beruzu's, budget and audit. There is need to establishment of a mechanism for Beruzu settlement, need of improvement of financial decipline at the local level, obtaining the expected results from operational audits in addition to financial and regularity audits, the use of available resources and manpower management at the local level, and the response given by the office regarding the activities pointed out in the preliminary audit report should be sttled down timely manner and other suggestions regarding the maintaining the financial deciplines were received.

Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Dr. Baikunth Aryal has said that the meeting of the secreties has decided to celebrate this year as the year of financial discipline, so he emphasized to regularize the previous irregularities (beruju) and create a situation where new beruju is not added and to enhance governance by facilitating the teams coming for the audit.

Acting Auditor General Mr. Maheshwar Kaphle said in the program that as according to the approved audit plan, the audit for the financial year 2079/80 will be conducted on the basis of random sampling and also will be followed according to the risk-based auditing system. The audit will be conducted in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations. Emphasizing the need to pay attention to the receipt and use of public resources, promoting financial discipline and responsibility and accountability. He concluded the program by exploring views that the audit to be taken as a tools of financial decipline.
